The route between the Georgetown Trailhead and Union Station will take you past just about every major Washington DC tourist attraction. Most of this route uses bike paths. Where street riding is required, you will find the roads to be quite bicycle friendly. Also, do not be concerned about crime. The route between the towpath and Union Station is quite safe. However, please be aware that the area north of Union Station (around the Bus Terminal) is not the best part of town. Use discretion when traveling here. This bike route generally follows the grassy National Mall area. Use Louisina Ave to travel between the Mall and Union Station. The rock creek trail is used to travel between the Lincoln Memorial and the C&0 Trailhead.
